Three Moods for Brass Quartet

Three Moods uses the brass quartet to explore three different emotions. This piece was written when I was experiencing a lot of pressure and change at work and in life. The outer movements are a reflection of this. 

The middle movement was written as an attempt to cheer myself up. In August 2024, it was announced that Finale, which was my primary music setting tool for over two decades, was being discontinued. I was shocked and disappointed. It seemed like losing a close friend. As I was exploring Dorico, I sat down to write something fun. That was the opening statement of the middle movement of this work.

The work was entered in the 2025 Cal Poly Humboldt Brass Chamber Music Workshop Composition Contest, where it won third place.
