Biography

Adrian L. Quince (b. 1982) is native of Marin County, California. He began writing for wind band while at College of Marin, where he studied composition with Dr. Stan Kraczek, Doug Delaney, and Dr. Trevor Björklund. Some highlights of his composition career include completing the first known band transcription of Venus, the Bringer of Peace, winning the 2008 College of Marin Concerto Competition with Carnival!, being commissioned to write The Newfoundland Deception by the Daly City All-Stars Band, and having Leap Day premiered by the Central Band of the Royal Air Force, directed by Wing Commander Piers Morrell OBE.

In addition to composing, Adrian is an active musician and conductor. He currently directs the Deutscher Musikverein of San Francisco, the Bay Area’s premiere traditional German music group. Previously, he co-founded and directed the Banda Italiana di Marin from 2002 to 2013 and directed the Las Gallinas Valley Sanitary District Non-Marching Band (affectionately known as “the Sewer Band”) from 2010 to 2023.
