Founded in 1938, Deutscher Musikverein of San Francisco is a close-knit musical family that brings the classic sounds of Germany to cultural events throughout the Bay Area.

Each year, as part of the Golden Gate Park Band Festival, the Bay Area Friendship Band brings musicians from throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond together to perform contemporary works for band, with an emphasis on works by living composers.
